Hvar + Split
Stone palaces, island ferries, and warm Adriatic swims.
Four days splitting between Diocletian's Split and the carfree quiet of Hvar. Mornings on the water, afternoons in old-stone alleys, evenings on a square at the slow Mediterranean pace.
Day 1 — Arrive Split
Afternoon
Walk Diocletian's Palace
CultureDon't book a tour. Walk in through the Bronze Gate, get lost in the lanes for an hour. The palace is the city, not a museum within it.
Evening
Sunset wine at Brasserie Lvxor
FoodSit on the cathedral steps with a glass of Pošip. The square fills with people, the bells go off, everything is fine.
Day 2 — Catamaran to Hvar
Morning
Catamaran to Hvar town
MovementAn hour from Split. Sit on the open deck. Drop bags at a small hotel near the main square.
Afternoon
Swim at Pokonji Dol
MovementA 25-minute walk east of town along the coast path. Pebble beach, calm water. Bring water shoes.
Evening
Dinner on the main square
FoodKonoba Menego or Dalmatino — modest plates of grilled fish, lamb, and homemade bread. Sit outside late.
Day 3 — Pakleni islands
Morning
Speedboat to the Pakleni
MovementHire a small boat at the Hvar marina for a half-day. The captain takes you between the four main coves; you swim, snorkel, anchor wherever's quiet.
Afternoon
Lunch on Palmižana
FoodLaganini or Toto's — feet-in-the-sand restaurants on the largest island. Order whole fish, swim it off after.
Evening
Slow walk on the Hvar promenade
RestSkip the late-night clubs near Carpe Diem. Walk the seafront, stop at a wine bar, early bed.
Day 4 — Return and depart
Morning
Catamaran back to Split
MovementEarliest departure if your flight is afternoon — buffer for harbour traffic.
Afternoon
Market lunch and SPU airport
FoodKonoba Marjan for one last fish before the airport bus.
