Bali

Surf at sunrise, yoga at sunset, ten days of warm water and slow food.

Ten days across three bases — Canggu for the surf-and-café rhythm, Uluwatu for the dramatic cliffs and serious waves, Ubud for the jungle finale. Movement every morning, restoration every evening, a long lunch in between.

Day 1 — Arrive Canggu

Afternoon

Land DPS, transfer to Canggu

Rest

Pre-book a Grab or your villa's driver — the airport-Canggu hop is 90 minutes in traffic. Drop bags, walk.

Evening

Sunset at Old Man's Beach

Rest

Bintang in the sand, surfers winding down, the line of warung lights coming on. Don't surf yet — let the body land.

Day 2 — First surf, first yoga

Morning

Surf lesson at Old Man's

Movement

Rip Curl School or Sunrise School. Beach break, mellow at low tide, ideal for getting back into it. 90 minutes is plenty on day one.

Afternoon

Long lunch at Crate Café

Food

Brunch plates, smoothies, slow service in the best way. Eat, sit, scroll, eat more.

Evening

Yoga at The Practice

Movement

75-minute slow flow at sunset. Outdoor shala, traditional Hatha, no music. Walk back along the rice paddies.

Day 3 — Surf and the city

Morning

Sunrise surf at Berawa

Movement

Beach break a 5-minute scooter ride from Canggu. Check Magicseaweed before you go — only worth it on a clean swell.

Afternoon

Café-hop in Berawa

Food

Penny Lane for matcha, BGS for açaí, Quince for cocktails later. The walking is the point.

Evening

Massage at Bodyworks Canggu

Rest

Ninety minutes Balinese, around twenty dollars. Sleep early.

Day 4 — Last day in Canggu

Morning

Free surf at Old Man's

Movement

No lesson today. Take what you've learned, paddle out alone or with a buddy. Stay in for an extra hour.

Afternoon

Lunch at Hungry Bird

Food

Best smoothie bowl on this side of the island. Sit on the floor cushions, watch the parade outside.

Evening

Drive to Uluwatu

Movement

An hour south, smooth toll road then twisty cliff lanes. Check in at Suka Espresso or a cliffside hotel near Bingin.

Day 5 — Uluwatu surf

Morning

Surf at Bingin

Movement

Reef break — go only if you've surfed reef before, or take a guide. Otherwise watch from the warung deck and go to Padang Padang for the gentler take-off.

Afternoon

Lunch at Suka Espresso

Food

Cliffside, bowls and tropical iced lattes. Read, write, plan nothing.

Evening

Cliff-edge yoga at Morning Light

Movement

Sunset class on the deck above Bingin. The Kecak chants from the temple drift up. This is what people remember.

Day 6 — Cliffs and culture

Morning

Walk to Padang Padang Beach

Rest

Hidden between rocks, accessed via stairs through a slot in the cliff. Swim, then climb back up before the sun is high.

Afternoon

Long lunch at Drifter Cafe

Food

Surf-shop café with great fish tacos. Order, swim, eat, swim again.

Evening

Uluwatu Temple at sunset

Culture

Pay the entrance, watch the Kecak fire dance. Touristy but beautiful. Hold your phone tight — the monkeys steal anything shiny.

Day 7 — Last Uluwatu day

Morning

Sunrise surf at Padang Padang

Movement

If you've earned it. Otherwise, run the cliff path north toward Pecatu for a flat 5 km.

Afternoon

Drive to Ubud

Movement

Two hours northeast through the rice paddies. Check in to a jungle villa at Tegalalang or Penestanan.

Evening

Easy dinner at home

Rest

Most jungle villas do a private chef option. Order the gado-gado and an early massage.

Day 8 — Ubud yoga and rice

Morning

Yoga Barn, 8 AM Vinyasa

Movement

Seventy-five minutes in the wooden upstairs studio surrounded by jungle. Strong sequences, large class, real teachers.

Afternoon

Walk Tegalalang rice terraces

Movement

An hour and a half through the paddies. Tip the farmers a few rupiah for crossings. Bring water.

Evening

Locavore To-Go

Food

The casual sister of Locavore. Plant-forward, deeply Balinese, around fifteen dollars a head.

Day 9 — Spa and rest

Morning

Sunrise walk on Campuhan Ridge

Movement

1.5 km up the spine of two valleys. Quiet at 06:30, mobbed by 09:00.

Afternoon

Spa at Karsa

Rest

Half-day package. Outdoor flower bath in the rice fields. Don't text anyone.

Evening

Dinner at Locavore NXT

Food

If you can get a reservation, the tasting menu. If not, Cuca or Hujan Locale — both world-class.

Day 10 — Final day, depart

Morning

Final restorative yoga

Rest

Yoga Barn 90-minute restorative if you can swing it. Then a long savasana.

Afternoon

Lunch and DPS

Food

Watercress for one last avocado bowl, then 90 minutes south to the airport.
