Energy Audit Framework

Track and optimize your energy patterns across work, rest, and movement.

Most productivity advice focuses on time management. But you can have 8 free hours and accomplish nothing if your energy is depleted. This framework helps you understand and optimize your energy — not just your schedule. For one week, track your energy at three points each day (morning, midday, evening) on a simple 1-5 scale. Note what you ate, how you moved, how you slept, and what kind of work you did. At the end of the week, review the patterns. You will likely discover that certain activities drain you predictably (back-to-back video calls, skipping lunch) while others restore you (a 15-minute walk, a focused deep work session). Use these insights to redesign your default day — batching draining activities, protecting restoration windows, and scheduling your most important work during your peak energy hours.
